In Memory of Nadir Ömer


Nadir Ömer passed away during the early morning hours on November 25, 2023, succumbing to her heart failure exacerbated by the recent diagnosis of cancer.


Nadir was the epitome of grace and loved by all who met her. She is survived by her three children, Nuran, Sumer, and Sezin and their spouses Akin, Teresa, and Scott. Her joy was in spending time with her 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.


Nadir and her family have been longtime members and supporters of MATA since the 1970s.


There will be a funeral service on Sunday, November 26, beginning at 12:30 p.m. sharp, at the Diyanet Center of America (Grand Turkish Mosque), located at 9610 Good Luck Road, Lanham, Maryland. The service will immediately follow the noon-time prayer, which is scheduled from 12 to 12:30 p.m.


The funeral procession will then drive to the Maryland National Memorial Cemetery, located

at 13300 Baltimore Avenue, for interment at approximately 2 p.m.


The MATA Board of Directors extends our heartfelt condolences to Nadir's family and friends.
