In Memory of Mehmet Özcan Mustafa (1948-2023)

Updated: Nov 25, 2023

Final funeral details below for Monday, November 20. We hope to see you there.

Mehmet Özcan Mustafa passed away this past Friday, November 17, 2023, after an unexpected and short battle with cancer. Diagnosed in September, the disease was discovered after complaining about back and shoulder pain. He was initially diagnosed with multiple myeloma, then lung cancer, with additional complications. This all came as a sudden shock to the family.

Özcan, as we all knew him, was truly loved by anyone who met him. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Neshe; his daughter Sinem, her husband Stuart Dwyer, and Özcan's grandson Max; his older son Erdem and his wife Jess; and Özcan's younger son Hakan.

Özcan and his family have been longtime members and supporters of MATA since the 1970s. He had served on the Board of Directors, and is a past president of our organization.

The MATA Board of Directors extends our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Özcan will be dearly missed by all of us.
