On April 23, 2023, the Maryland American Turkish Association (MATA) held its annual General Meeting at 1:30 PM. The meeting was held at the East Columbia Branch of the Howard County Library.
There were discussions regarding upcoming activities, selling of land MATA has owned since 1975, earthquake donations, and the election of a new board of directors. We welcome the newly elected Directors Aslihan Nuri (President), Muge Turkman (Vice President), Orhan Suleiman (Treasurer), Joseph Miller (Secretary), Murat Nuri (Immediate Past President), Timur Edib, and Abigail Bowman. We want to thank Ahmet Demiroglu, the outgoing director for his years of service to MATA.
At the meeting we were happy to see one of our oldest members, Dr. Ulku Ulgur, and welcomed our newest members Sibel and Tim McGinnis.
After the General Meeting, we celebrated 23 Nisan, which is celebrated on April 23rd in Türkiye as a National Holiday honoring children, at Rudy’s Mediterranean Grille in Columbia, Maryland.
